Changing the work visa conditions or applying for a Job Change
If your work visa comes with conditions you can apply to change:
the employer you work for
the job you are doing
the location you are working
how long you can study for while you work.
If you have an Accredited Employer Work Visa
You can apply for a Job Change to change your employer, job, location, or a combination of these. Your employer must be accredited to hire migrants for the AEWV.
If you have an Essential Skills Work Visa
You can apply to change your employer, job, location, or a combination of these. Your employer would need to meet the advertising requirements unless the role is exempt from the requirement of advertising. If your new job has different skills and experience requirements to your old job, you will need to show that you are suitably qualified for the job.
If you have a Post-Study Work Visa (Employer Assisted)
If you have a Post Study Work Visa (employer-assisted), you can choose to have the job, location and employer removed. You can then work for any employer.
If you have a Talent (Accredited Employer) Work Visa
You must apply for a variation of conditions if:
you want to change your job to work for another accredited employer.
your current job is no longer available for reasons outside your control, but you can get work for an employer who is not accredited.
Changing employers on a Talent (Accredited Employer) Work Visa
If you hold a Talent (Accredited Employer) Work Visa you can change employers while preserving your pathway to residency without being affected by the old employer accreditation scheme closing. Talent (Accredited Employer) visa holders can change to an employer who was accredited under the Talent (Accredited Employer) scheme, if your employer’s accreditation expired after 31 March 2021. You can choose from a bigger pool of employers who have previously met accreditation requirements.
