About

New Zealand warmly welcomes experienced, high-value investors to help build globally successful Kiwi businesses.

With our investor visa, you can settle or spend a significant amount of time here, enjoying everything our beautiful country has to offer.

This initiative reflects our commitment to attracting overseas investors who contribute to New Zealand's sustainable growth and prosperity.

Key requirements of the visa include:
-
Investing between NZ$5 million and NZ$15 million, based on a weighting system that incentivizes more 'active' investments.
-
Making the investment over a three-year period and maintaining it for an additional fourth year.
-
Spending at least 117 days in New Zealand over the four-year conditional visa period.
-
Demonstrating a reasonable command of English, with at least a Level 5 on the International English Language Testing System (IELTS).
Acceptable investment classes

The Active Investor Plus visa offers four distinct investment options, allowing investors to diversify their investments across a combination of these categories.
-
Direct Investments: This option allows investors to directly connect with and impact New Zealand businesses. Direct investments receive the highest weighting, with every NZ$1 invested counting as NZ$3 towards visa requirements (3x). For example, an investment of NZ$5 million in direct investments would count as NZ$15 million towards meeting the visa criteria.
-
Managed Funds: Investors can put their money into New Zealand's innovative managed funds, such as private equity or venture capital. Each NZ$1 invested in managed funds counts as NZ$2 towards the visa requirements (2x). For instance, investing NZ$7.5 million in managed funds would meet the NZ$15 million requirement.
-
New Zealand-Listed Equities: Investors can choose to invest in shares on the New Zealand Stock Exchange (NZX). This investment option has no weighting applied (1x), meaning that every NZ$1 invested counts as exactly NZ$1.
-
Philanthropy: Contributing to philanthropic causes in New Zealand is another way to invest. Similar to listed equities, this option carries no weighting (1x), with every NZ$1 invested counting as NZ$1 towards your visa conditions.
These diverse options provide flexibility in how investors can help grow and support New Zealand's economy while also fulfilling visa requirements.
