Due to COVID-19 border restrictions, much of Immigration New Zealand’s usual visa processing activities have been suspended.
As New Zealand reconnects with the world, Immigration New Zealand will restart processing on-hand visa applications for offshore partners and dependents of work and student visa holders from 31 May 2022.
People outside of New Zealand who applied for a visa before entry was restricted in 2020 can choose to have their application processed or withdrawn and eligibility for a fee refund assessed.
Resuming the processing of these applications means that these people do not have to wait until the border is fully open at the end of July to be reunited with their families. It will allow them to live together sooner so they can meet requirements for a future partnership application.
